Army Lads and Lasses help tidy the town

A platoon of young soldiers from the Army Foundation College at Harrogate spent Sunday recently litter picking in Knaresborough. This was part of the "Big Litter Pick" organised by the Tidy Britain Campaign. Knaresborough in Bloom and the Knaresborough Lions worked closely together to arrange this litter pick. Chair of Knaresborough in Bloom Christine Willoughby commented "There was remarkably little litter to pick in most of the tourist areas of the town, however it was a different story at St James's Retail park. The mess left by the travellers was unbelievable and unfortunately it was beyond our ability to tidy. However we made a great difference in other parts of the retail park, mainly picking litter left by customers of the fast food outlet there".

The group of young soldiers unusually included a number of girls and they all enjoyed their time in the town.
