Knaresborough in Bloom brings new attraction to Knaresborough
Ackrills August 2016
Knaresborough in Bloom is bringing a new attraction to Knaresborough this weekend. With the assistance of our friends at Feva, we are hosting “The World’s End” which is a wonderful railway model by Peter Goss. This is an amazing, detailed and impressive railway model of parts of Knaresborough. This will be at Knaresborough House on Saturday and Sunday. This beautiful model features many well-known Knaresborough landmarks and buildings, including the railway station, the castle, Waterside and Kirkgate. There will also be displays of old toys including Meccano. There is something for everyone! Admission is free and the display is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 5pm. There will be tea and coffee available and a charity collection. Please come along and tell your friends.
The Knaresborough in Bloom annual gardens awards evening will be held this year on Friday 16th September. This is our annual celebration of gardening in Knaresborough and this year our guest speaker is Judy Popley from Cheshire. Judy runs very successful garden plant fairs throughout the north of England and I’m sure she will have lots of interesting information to share with our gardeners. All our gardens competition entrants will receive an invitation to our gardens awards evening either through email or the post but any enthusiastic gardener or previous competition entrant is most welcome to attend. The awards evening is at Knaresborough House on 16th September from 7.30pm.
Yorkshire in Bloom news. Although Knaresborough didn’t enter Yorkshire in Bloom this year, a number of Knaresborough attractions were entered in the special categories. Knaresborough House and Knaresborough Castle were both entered this year and we look forward to hearing how they did on 13th September when the results at announced at the awards ceremony at York Racecourse.
