Time to start In Bloom Bid
How the weeks fly by! We're barely past the new year and winter months and now Easter beckons. With the feel of spring in the air, the leaves coming out and the daffodils and crocuses opening up, now comes the time for efforts to begin in earnest for this year's spring judging of the Knaresborough in Bloom competition. The committee is rightly calling upon us all to begin the great winter clean-up and start planting out boxes, borders, gardens and planters alike to ensure the town will look its best for the judging in April. Last year, Knaresborough re-entered the In Bloom contest after an absence of two years. It received very favourable comments from the judges then who felt Knaresborough had a promising future and would in years to come be a force to reckon with. Those on the In Bloom working party are working incredibly hard to start the preparations and we can all do our bit to help. The staff from Parks and Gardens at Harrogate Council are to be thanked also for the fantastic job they always do for Knaresborough. New refurbishments and tidying up at Conyngham Hall by the team have ensured the facilities there will be open this weekend in time for the Easter holidays. Town centre businesses can shortly put their order in for hanging baskets and make sure their premises look smart and tidy - it really does make a difference and gives a good impression to visitors. Harrogate and Darley led the way last year with their double coup in the Entente Florale. Let it be Knaresborough that follows their lead.
