Blooming Delight at Nomination

Knaresborough delight at being nominated for the national Britain in Bloom awards

Knaresborough in Bloom is delighted that Yorkshire in Bloom has nominated Knaresborough for a place in the prestigious Britain in Bloom awards. This has come as a culmination of many years of work.

“Knaresborough has the ability to really deliver”, enthused Chair Christine Willoughby, “we have a stunning setting, good business support and a supportive and hard working committee. I am confident that the judges will be impressed when they come to Knaresborough.”

The judges visit in late July or early August will be at the end of an exciting time for Knaresborough with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Bed Race and the Olympic Torch procession all having taken place within a few weeks.

“Knaresborough will look great this year”, commented Christine, “much of the town will be coloured red, white and blue for the Queen’s Jubilee, and that combined with feva pink will produce a dazzling display. Our committee is already working hard on the route for the judging tour, and we want to really encourage everyone in the town to get on board. If you are lucky enough to live or work in the town, please look at your property to see what you can do to make a difference. If anyone is interested in helping in any way, they will be most welcome, it’s definitely more hands make light work!”
