Knaresborough in Bloom needs you!

Knaresborough in Bloom is a friendly, dedicated and hardworking organisation which works to improve the town of Knaresborough with planting and other environmental improvements. Throughout the year we maintain approximately forty tubs and hanging baskets on the streets, as well as a floral boat and our new waterwheel feature. We run competitions for schools and a competition each summer for local gardeners to enter their gardens. In the autumn we hold an awards evening.
We need more help. Could you help Knaresborough in Bloom with its activities?
Knaresborough in Bloom, like many organisations, depends on volunteers for all its efforts. In recent years we have had a small nucleus of helpers who have worked hard throughout the year. However that small nucleus of helpers has dwindled down to a stage where there are hardly enough helpers to maintain our planting in the town. This has resulted in us deciding not to enter the town in to Yorkshire in Bloom’s competition. Knaresborough in Bloom chair Christine Willoughby explained, “The decision not to enter Yorkshire in Bloom was not an easy one. However with the current numbers of volunteers we would not be able to produce the high quality of entry that the town deserves. Entering the Yorkshire in Bloom competition involves a great many additional tasks such as devising a judging route and arranging hospitality. Sadly we just don’t currently have the manpower for this.”
Our volunteers need help with planting, weeding and watering throughout the spring, summer and autumn. We do need more helpers and if you could join our small team please drop us an email. You don’t need any expert knowledge, just enthusiasm.
