Floral success for Knaresborough

These are excellent results, all better than last year, so we are really pleased. It is a credit to the Knaresborough in Bloom team and to the Harrogate Borough Council gardeners. "
Andrew Willoughby

KNARESBOROUGH has won the Best Summer Floral Display award in this year's Yorkshire In Bloom Awards.
The town received a Silver Gilt, an improvement on last year's Gilt award.

Individual awards also went to both Knaresborough Castle and Knaresborough House which both received Gold awards in the Visitor Attraction category.

Excellent results

The Knaresborough In Bloom committee are delighted with the results.
Committee member, Andrew Willoughby said: "These are excellent results, all better than last year, so we are really pleased.

"It is a credit to the Knaresborough in Bloom team and to the Harrogate Borough Council gardeners who look after Knaresborough so well."

The Yorkshire In Bloom judges comments said: "The display in the Council chamber at the start of the tour set the scene for a very interesting and informative tour.

Attractive town

"Many aspects of the criteria were amply covered and some superb examples of floral features and the involvement of at least
two schools showed that numerous sections of the community were working to improve the environment of this attractive town. "

Meanwhile Harrogate won the coveted Yorkshire in Bloom Large Town Category for the 26th time.

Harrogate adds this to a string of other floral excellence awards, including eight times winner of Britain in Bloom and the only town in Europe ever to have won Entente Florale twice!
