The Knaresborough In Bloom committee has announced the results of its new In Bloom Schools competition. Following on from the successful "Grow A Giant Sunflower" competition, this latest competition for Knaresborough school- children to "Design a Flowerbed" has proved equally successful. The flowerbed near the bowling green on Castle Top is the chosen spot where the winning design will be planted up in time for summer 2005. Judges had a difficult time choosing the winning entry but the design of eight-year-old Bernice Lister, a pupil from Castle CE Junior School in Knaresborough was the favourite. A delighted Bernice was told of her win at the school's Harvest Festival Assembly held in October, much to the delight of her fellow pupils and staff. Highly commended entries came from Zuleika von Beneeka aged eight, also a pupil at Castle School, Victoria Leigh from The Forest School and eight year old Hayden Nelson from Meadowside Primary School.
