Aboard for a smart station

Railway Station has been given a fresh coat of paint just in time for the start
of the summer season.
Painters from Network Rail have been hard at work giving window frames, doors, the subways and the wooden boards at the attractive station a completely new and fresh look much to the delight of local resident, Doris Hayton.
"It must be at least 20 years since the station was fully repainted and it looks so much better." said Doris. "It needed a good facelift and it means the station will now be especially smart for the In Bloom judging later this summer."
Mrs Hayton looks after the station platforms and as a member of Knaresborough In Bloom helps ensure it looks its best all year round filling planters, tubs and baskets and carrying out weeding and watering. Last year the station won a Silver Gilt award in the Business Premises category in the Yorkshire In Bloom awards.
Doris added that the railway paintings installed last year added to the scenic look and had been highly praised by railway users.
