Primary School Aiming for Gold next year!

Representatives from Knaresborough in Bloom visited St Mary's School recently to congratulate the school on it's excellent result in the recent Yorkshire in Bloom competition. The school was a new entry and achieved a very commendable Silver Gilt in the competition. The judges were clearly very impressed with the school gardens and commented "Quite a large proportion of the site is set amidst trees in an informal woodland setting. All parts of the school grounds are used as an educational resource. Area around school buildings good; natural and food areas appropriately maintained.Generally a very good effort to grow fruit and vegetables. The woodland and associated areas being intensively used."
The children enjoy using this outdoor area throughout the curriculum and also in play. Chair of Knaresborough in Bloom Christine Willoughby said "This is a marvellous facility for the school and it can only get better!. Well done to the staff and the children" Headteacher Christine Wray confirmed that the school would be entering Yorkshire in Bloom again next year and they are aiming for gold.
